Bought new horns at a fifth of the price for original ones, for that price it is OK that they are a little different than the originals. They are 5mm wider and are 10mm deeper in the center back where the mounting bolt sits. I can live with that. As you can see they have [...]

Have masked the front brake disks because they really need some paint. On this I had to use electrical tape because it is flexible and can be curved. To get curves in the masking just stretch the tape while applying it.

A local paint shop sold me a spray can with black high temperature paint. They told me it was matte, but it was so matt I had to go back and ask them for a clear coat to have on top, just so the caliper would look somewhat like before. A total waste of time! [...]

Drove up to Fauske to get the frame that had been powder coated at IL-AS. A quick cuality check revealed only one flaw in the paint and one error they made when masking the frame. The flaw is that some fluid has been left on the frame before covering it with powder, causing a small [...]

I am having trouble getting the decals for my GS1100G. I have sent some request to some shops that make vintage decals. No answer so far. I have been at several paint shops for a cost estimate on the job with painting the parts with decals. One local paint shop would use one red and [...]

Improving the paint booth

I had to improve the paint booth, it was too dark and too cold. The solution was a small lamp at the top, a ceiling and an oven. The oven is old, 13 years actually, and was on its way to recycling anyway. The ceiling does two things, prevent dust from the garage door that [...]

This is the first part I painted, hope I did good. The paint is supposed to dry in one hour in 20°C, but it is only 6°C today. With this temperature I will probably only get one part painted in my spray booth each day. However there are more days than parts to paint before [...]

This booth is just fabric held up by wire and a couple of wood sticks. The booth is collapsible by pushing it towards the wall. I also build it so that I can open the garage door while the booth is up.
