A local paint shop sold me a spray can with black high temperature paint. They told me it was matte, but it was so matt I had to go back and ask them for a clear coat to have on top, just so the caliper would look somewhat like before. A total waste of time! [...]

I decided to change the liquid I had in my parts washer with White Spirit, Mineral Spirit in USA. I am glad I did. White spirit is so much better as a cleaning fluid than the environmentally friendly organic degreaser fluid I had been using so far. I just have to tolerate the smell and [...]

This is one caliper after glass blasting, some scuff marks was suddenly more visible. Some surfaces has been masked for painting. Just going to wipe it off with spirits before paint. New Stuff
The order from Autosol in Germany finally arrived. It consists of aluminium cleaner, aluminium protective oil and aluminium polish. I will use the polish during restoration and the rest is for after I’m finished, to protect my investment.

Before
I was looking through my photo albums one day and found this photograph from the summer of 1996. The colors are a bit wrong but it is nice and shiny. This was back in the days I was still using the bike for trips and therefore has mountings for luggage mounted on it.

Cleaned the brake disks. The only thing I will do to these is to make the black areas shinier.
